Stockton’s distribution centers run shifts from early morning into the night. Downtown offices and grocery-anchored retail fill out the city.
Distribution porters time restroom, breakroom and locker room rounds to shift changes and keep docks clear. Retail centers get exterior and restroom coverage through the day.

View detailsAt a Stockton distribution center, restrooms and locker rooms take their hardest use in the minutes around a shift change. The porter arrives ahead of it, restocks paper, soap and towels, and empties bins. Once the outgoing crew clears out, the round resets benches, mirrors, sinks and floors so the incoming crew finds the room clean.
Breakrooms follow the same pattern at every break wave. Tables, microwaves, sinks and vending fronts are wiped, recycling and food waste go out, and floors are spot-mopped wherever drinks spilled.
Dock aprons collect cardboard, stretch film, banding and broken pallets faster than any other part of the building. Porters work the dock between trailers, sweeping each door, staging scrap for recycling and keeping walk lanes clear. Our garage and loading dock checklist lists what each pass covers.
Heavy receiving days produce the most scrap. When trailers stack up at the doors, the porter adds a pass after each busy window instead of waiting for the next scheduled one. The employee entrance beside the dock is swept on the same trip, so drivers and crew aren’t walking through debris, and full scrap bins are swapped before they block a door.
Grocery-anchored centers start busy and stay that way. Exterior porters reach the lot before the morning shoppers, picking up litter, emptying entry bins and clearing cart areas. Midday and late-afternoon loops follow the traffic, and the center’s common-area restrooms are restocked on that same schedule so they never fall behind the lot.
Downtown Stockton offices round out the city with standard daytime routes: lobbies, restrooms and breakrooms worked around the arrival and lunch peaks.
The usual Stockton rate is $34 to $43 per porter-hour on 2026 Central Valley market figures, from about $30 for a downtown office loop up to $51 for multi-shift distribution posts. Take a distribution center with a one-hour round after each of three shift changes, six days a week: 78 hours a month, or $2,730 at $35. Grocery-anchored retail centers need exterior hours instead, mostly in the morning.
